Infertility is a condition of a woman who is unable to conceive or maintain the pregnancy till the child birth. If a woman is unable to become pregnant after one year of unprotected intercourse, then it is considered as infertility.
Infertility in men can cause due to low sperm count, no sperm cells, or sperms dying before they get to the egg. In case of women, the cause for infertility is mostly due to ovulation disorder. This happens due to irregular or no menstrual periods. Endocrine disorders, block in the fallopian tubes, uterine fibroids, uterus disorders are other causes for female infertility.
There are several Ayurvedic plants that are helpful in treating infertility for men as well as for women.
Ashoka: Its bark has estrogenic compound that is helpful for uterus and ovarian tissue. It is also useful in regulating the menstrual cycle. The estrogen effect stimulates the ovarian tissue and also repairs the endometrium.
Shatavari: This herb helps in increasing libido. It is useful in nourishing the female reproductive organs and also maintains normal hormonal balance. Though this herb is best for women, it benefits men also. It takes care of male reproductive organs. This herb is useful in treating impotence and general sexual debility.
Gokasura: This herb is beneficial in improving sexual desire. It helps men to have satisfactory erection. This herb helps in increasing testosterone level that helps in taking care of impotence problems. It is also used to increase the count of the sperm.
Kapikachchu: This herb is an excellent remedy for treating low sperm count and also gives healthy sperm that is necessary for healthy fertility. It is used as a nervine tonic and takes away all the mental problems. This herb has aphrodisiacal properties that boost sexual desire.
Aloe Vera: This herb has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps in treating inflamed testes. This herb is very useful in regulating the hormones in the body. It contains the necessary vitamins and amino acids that help in proper function of the reproductive system. When taken regularly it can increase the production of the sperm.
Ayurveda treats a man to have healthy sperm and for women to have healthy ovulation and uterus for successful conception. When there are mental disorders and physical disorders, it can cause infertility. Mental disorders include stress, tension, depression, and lack of sleep whereas, physical disorders include obesity, improper digestion, blood impurities, and when proper nutrition cannot reach the reproductive tissue can cause infertility.
