Get Relief from Sore Throat with Ayurvedic Herbs

Sore throat can be very irritating especially when you cannot avoid talking. It can happen due to virus, bacteria, smoking, and intake of alcohol, allergy to dust, air pollution, seasonal changes, and many other reasons. Sore throat can have reddish swollen throat that can be very painful.

Sometimes cold, cough, headache, and fever can accompany sore throat. Sore throat can also cause pain in the ear. Some people get sore throat frequently. Follow these advices and the Ayurvedic herbs mentioned below can help in reducing the effect of sore throat.

  1. Avoid refrigerated foods.
  2. Avoid taking yogurt and sour foods.
  3. Avoid fried foods that can worsen sore throat.
  4. Avoid foods like papayas, bananas, watermelons, and cucumbers when you suffer from sore throat.

Ayurvedic remedies to cure sore throat are:

Basil: Basil is used in Ayurveda for several purposes. The basil leaves can be boiled in water. You can drink this twice a day or use it to gargle.

Cardamom and Cinnamon: Cardamom and cinnamon can be added to water to gargle for curing sore throat problems. Sore throat that is caused by influenza can also be cured with this treatment.

Clove: Clove is said to soothe an irritating throat. Clove can be chewed along with either crystal common salt or rock salt.

Cumin seed: Add a teaspoon of cumin seeds, a piece of ginger to a glass of boiling water. When it is cooled, use this mixture to gargle.

Ginger: Ginger treats cold and coughs that can be the cause for the sore throat. Ginger is a good remedy and it can be used in many ways to treat sore throat. You can have ginger tea or hot water that has ginger and sugar as the ingredients or have the juice of the ginger along with honey.

Fenugreek: Boil water by adding some fenugreek seeds. Allow it to simmer for thirty minutes. When it gets cooled, you can use this water to gargle. Fenugreek is very effective for normal sore throats.

Bayberry: Boil water with bayberry bark. Use this mixture to gargle to cure any throat infection.

Betel: Crushed betel leaves are applied on the neck to get relief from sore throat. If there is cough along with sore throat, then the berry of the plant can be crushed and had with honey.

Licorice: The juice of this herb brings soothing effect to the sore throat.

Henna: Henna leaves are boiled in water and gargled with this water to give good relief from sore throat.

These Ayurvedic remedies will give you great relief from sore throat. However, it is important that you also follow the tips mentioned above that can minimize the chances of getting frequent sore throat.
