Loss of Appetite and Ayurvedic Remedies

A healthy person, who follows a proper well-balanced diet, will have good appetite and digestive system. But if that same person suddenly has a loss of appetite, then it is a worrying situation. Lack of exercise, hormonal imbalance, emotional disturbances, constipation, drinking alcohol, and smoking can be the causes behind this loss of appetite.
Improper eating habits like eating wrong foods at odd times, consuming large quantity of food at one time, consuming food that are rich in saturated fats, eating junk foods and drinking soft drinks in between meals can lead a person to have poor digestion, which in turn cause acidity, heartburn, and constipation. This is one of the major causes for loss of appetite. However, loss of appetite should not be neglected because it can decrease the level of immunity.
Loss of appetite can lead to weight loss and problems in the digestive system. Therefore, the cure is to strengthen the digestive system. Some diet tips and Ayurvedic remedies will help to cure loss of appetite.
- Have a well-balanced diet that includes fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Ginger and lemon are great appetizers used in Ayurvedic treatments. Mix the juice of these two ingredients and drink it on a regular basis, once a day, for at least one month.
- Make lime juice with water (room temperature – not cold) and a little salt. Consume this twice daily.
- In Ayurveda, Garlic is said to act as a good appetizer – it improves appetite. Garlic soup (if you are not allergic to it) can be taken for five days. Better would be to chew a piece of raw garlic every morning, on empty stomach, for a month.
- Drink 30 ml of coriander juice made from its leaves daily to increase the appetite.
- Eat black grapes for treating loss of appetite.
- Guava, mango, and tomatoes can improve your appetite.
- If you have lost appetite because of cold and fever, then holy basil will help to get rid of fever and improving your appetite.
However, you should consult an Ayurvedic practitioner who can guide you better. A proper diet, regular exercise, yoga, and meditation should be followed throughout your life for having a good digestive system which can solve not only the problem of loss of appetite, but also many other health related problems.
